12-14 March 2010    Weekend away to Lakes Entrance.

09.30am for 10.00am   (Fri 12th March) Depart McDonald's Mt Waverley, Blackburn Rd
(cnr Waverley Rd) Blackburn 3149
10.30am  Stop near the  Nar Nar Goon  to pick up Mornington people.
12 noon  Lunch at Rosedale (Either pack a lunch or can buy at Rosedale)(Also brong some morning tea - hermos etc)
Approximately 3pm Arrive at Lakes Entrance
(It will be a leisurely drive with lots of stops)  (We will be getting off the M1 for some sightseeing). Make sure you pack your camera and buckets and spades.

Accommodation is still available at the Lazy Acre Log Cabins, 33 Roadknight St Lakes Entrance 3909
2 bedroom cabins for 2 or 4 people is $148 per night
3 bedroom cabin for 6 or 8 people is $178 per night.
Bed Sitter house is $85 per room per night

Friday Morning (10am)  - A lazy motor down to Lakes Entrance stopping and sightseeing along the way.

Friday Afternoon (3pm approx)  - Walk to the shops or across to the beach for a swim or just sit back, relax, and read a book.

Friday Evening (6.30 to 7pm) - Assemble in the "Garage" at Lazy Acre for Fish and Chips, or Pizza, or whatever else you want to bring or buy locally.

Saturday Morning (9am) - Local Run organised by Les and Margaret Bradd (Our members from  Raymond Island).  We will be stopping for morning tea at a bakery then stopping again for lunch at a pub before returning to Lakes Entrance in time for the boat cruise.
Depending on the time, we may have to go strraight from the run to the boat.

Saturday Afternoon (2pm to 4.30pm) - Cruise by boat around the Lakes on the MV Thunderbird (A group discount price of $34 per person has been negotiated) This is a 70km cruise around Metung, Paynesville, Raymond Island etc.  A kiosk and bar are onboard.  (Bookings are required through Lesley and Graham if you want to go.)
Graham has made a tentative booking.

Saturday Night - 800m walk to the Lakes Entrance Bowls Club for dinner at their bistro at about 7.30pm or you can have a free night if you wish.
At the Club they have a senoirs menu, a large vegetarian and gluten free menu as well as an a la carte menu.

Sunday Morning - BBQ Breakfast at Lazy Acre ($10 per person) Bacon, Eggs, Sausage, Tomato, Toast, Tea or Coffee. (Bookings are required if you want this service provided by Lazy Acre through Lesley or Graham).

We check out of the accommodation by 10am and travel to the Gippsland Vehicle Collection"The Maffra Shed" at 1a Sale Rd, Maffra, 3860, to celebrate the opening of their British Vehicles Display. ( www.gippslandvehiclecollection.org.au )
It is a 100km trip, so we should arrive by 11.30am and meet up with any who have travelled from Melbourne just for this event.  An area has been set aside for MMCCV vehicles in the "Display for the Day". Cost at the Maffra Shed is $5 and children under 15 free.
Some food, eg a sausage sizzle, will be available at "The Shed" or counter lunches are available at the local pub, which is within walking distance of "The Shed".
The display for the day is from 10am to 3.30pm

14 March 2010 – Run to Maffra

If there is anyone who is not going to Lakes Entrance Weekend and would like to organise a run on Sunday 14th March, please let the committee know.
A suggestion would be to depart from Mt Waverley McDonalds  at 9am to arrive at Maffra by 11:30am.  This could add to the MMCCV "Display for the Day". There will be a trophy for the best presented vehicle from the Gippsland Vehicle Collection People.  This trophy applies to all vehicles from near and far attending on the day.

4th Annual Rotary Charity Show ‘n’ Shine Leongatha Main Recreation Reserve.
Although not an MMCCV organised event, this run will be included into the run sheet for any members interested in participating in the event using their club permit morry.

Entry $5.00, gates open 8.30, judging 12.00pm,car boot sale,trophies.

Peninsula Aero Club takes pleasure in announcing the date for its next Airshow Aerial acts
ground theatre; re-enactments; stalls ; amusements ; historic cars & motor cycles ; homebuilt aircraft and much more is planned.
